Long-awaited Updates now available in Einherjar – The Viking’s Blood

Tokyo, Japan – 29 August 2012 – Appirits, the Japanese developer of Einherjar – The Viking’s Blood has recently announced a big upgrade for their browser-based game, covering new quests, items, maps and building level on 29 August 2012 (SGT or GMT+8).

Firstly, there are more quests prepared for players to undertake that will surely keep them occupied in a long time. Those include normal quests from which players can gain loots and experience for their Viking clans and destiny quests no.6 & no.7 for them to tailor their adventure direction in the Einherjar world.

Secondly, there will be new maps where players can explore to complete new quests. The first map is Alfheim, a magical kingdom where human and elves live together. It is praised as a Kingdom of Light but there is also a mystery about it. Deep inside Alfheim there is a sealed forest which no one has ever set foot on. And the second map is the Underground Shrine in Lindisfarne, a dark shrine located deep underneath Lindisfarne monastery. There is a rumor that it was built by Ragnar hence gathers all kinds of fierce monsters.

Thirdly, how lame an upgrade can be without a brand-new powerful arsenal of weaponry for Viking warriors? There will be numerous items, accessories, weapons and materials for players to freely use and combine for strengthening your Viking clans.
In addition, magical weapons can be repaired from now on. This may have great effects for players’ weapon budget. Moreover, artificial weapons will be ready for upgrading to god weapons which can make their owners a true fierce on battlefields. And the supreme Runic weapons and armors are now upgradable too.

Last but not least, the building level cap will be raised from 9 to 11 for players to keep on developing their Viking territory. With this, they will have more chances to earn more precious materials and items via production.
And there is one more little change for the game’s current raiding mechanics. From now on, if players lose in a raid, their warrior’s LP will be deducted by 1 point only.
Appirits hopes those updates and improvement above can partially meet players’ expectation towards their game and assure that there will be more refinement added to Einherjar in the near future.

Week of Soul Sacrifice and Crystal crafting in Einherjar

Tokyo, Japan - 29 August 2012 - In the world of Einherjar – The Viking’s Blood, a Japanese browser-based game developed by Appirits, soul sacrifice is a unique feature which allows players to obtain soul chalice and bloods. From that, players can craft useful crystals for their Viking warriors. And that is the theme of the new in-game event which takes place from 29 August to 5 September (SGT or GMT+8).

During the event period, players can have more chance of getting bloods for units at level 45 and even more items in addition to normal soul chalice and bloods via the soul sacrifice feature. Moreover, the successful rate of crafting crystals will also be increased as below.
- Added 20% if the original rate is lower than 50%.
- Added 10% if the original rate is higher than or equivalent to 50%.
Combining crystal is a difficult job which requires patience and luck, so this event may be a great opportunity for players to develop their Viking clans.

During the said period, there will be 6 new sub-quests provided by NPC Brunhilde at the bar in Hedeby city. The details are as below.
1/ Defeat Ogre Devil x50 -> Rewards: Waltroute Blood x1, Brynhidr Blood x1

Those quests above are sub-quests, i.e. players can complete then do it again as much as they can. Please note that those new quests will be expired after 5 September, so it is recommended that players should not miss out on this great chance to earn Sacred Bloods for their Viking clans.

Generation of Strong Children

The main goal to have strong units is to have generations of children. To complete this you need to level your units to maximum level then those units will mate and have strong children. Then you level those children to maximum then mate them to have another breed of stronger children. That's the cycle of units. Also when units are maxed level, they can be sacrificed and turn to crystals that can be used to improve your units. Be aware that there are maximum status for units depending on their job classes. So there is a limit to this "strongness". Refer to this by zsaber -> Max stats of Jobs

Things you need to know about mating/birthing/breeding:
1.) When you place a couple in warrior house they will or will not show a heart symbol. The bigger the heart the higher the chance they will give birth. If there is no heart they will not give birth.
2.) Age of both couple must be 15 or above.
3.) Mating finishes every "day 1 month 1". So every new year in-game, that's the point a child is born but there are some instances of bad luck that they will not. Also technically speaking, a couple can give birth in 1 day if you placed them in warrior house at "day 31 month 12" and pass 1 day.
4.) Each unit can bear a maximum of 3 kids whether they mate with different partner or not. The chance they give birth are lessen every time they mate.
5.) Units from both either parents can't mate. So technically speaking, "brother and sister" or "step-brother and step-sister" cannot mate. Be reminded! Same gender can't bear kids!
6.) Child will inherit random amount of stats depending on the totals of each stats of both parents combined then divided randomly. The higher the stats of the parents, the higher the range of the random scaling of inheritance.
7.) Child will inherit 2 skills randomly from both parents.
8.) Child has a chance to inherit the blood of one of the parents.
9.) Child will be born as a random class from one of the parent's job class. Example: Dad is a Highlander and Mom is a Spear Master then their child can be born randomly as a Sword Fighter, Spear Fighter, Spear Master, or a Highlander. But the higher the job class the less chance he will become one but still possible.

You will need luck and some other info to bear strong children.
These are:
1.) Bloods are a good way of increasing the stats of units. Each Blood has a unique ability to increase certain stats. Sometimes units with blood appear in square by chance. You can also sacrifice your blooded units and have a chance to create a crytal that can give blood to a unit through that process.
2.) Another form of stat boost is upgrading your unit's job class, since higher jobs gain more stats. It is best to upgrade your unit's job at minimum levels preferably level 1, so that they can take the full benefits of the upgraded job. But there are some instances that you should not upgrade them early. Most reason for this would be trying to gain a maximum skill level. Every job class can't level all skill types to maximum but each job have their own ability they can level to max. Refer to this -> Job Learning and Master skills
3.) Parents' upgraded job class also plays a role in bearing a high-stat child. Every job class has its maximum stats at birth so higher job classes have higher max stat for a child to store. Refer to this by zsaber -> Max stat of new born baby
4.) When you look at the guild window, there's a line of numbers called Tribute Points. The higher the tribute points the better chance of: the child gaining more stats from parents, inheriting a parent's blood, and being born as a higher job class. Tribute Points is the total effort of the guild. It is increased whenever any members of the guild do the following:
*raid other players successfully
*one of their units die or sacrificed
*they use holy devotional stones
The fastest way for a guild to gain tribute points is to capture a fort(not referring to forts in base but the castle-like forts in colonial war). The guild gains 200 points for each fort and they can capture a maximum of 2 forts.
There are things I might have missed though. Anyway tribute points is really helpful in mating. Everyone in the guild will benefit from this points. Tribute points are reset to 0 every maintenance. Also it is after maintenance that guilds gain tribute points from captured forts.

Also you might want to check out some guides and tables here on how Einherjar works.
For example, stats in einherjar are gained by chance through percentage.
Here is a link for this info by zsaber.
Job, Blood Increase Rate
This is a very helpful table.
If there is something that I missed please tell me.
This is for a sole intention of giving our new players the knowledge for them to know about the game, give them interest, and expand our community. I hope this helps.

How to get a strong baby, your future warrior

Every question about giving birth will be answered in here.

I – Tribute Point:The higher the point, you will have higher chance to have high class baby, that means the best time to bear is before 15h on Thursday, before the Tribute Point is reset, at that time the Point should be highest.

II – Max stats of new born baby:

III – How to calculate stats of the baby:Add points of the parents together and divide them by 3.5, you’ll get the stats of the baby. For example: I got Britania with Str 43, and Volsung with Str 34.
So 43 + 34 = 77, 77 / 3.5 = 22, but because their child is Spear Fighter, he only has 20 Str.
Same way to calculate with other status.

IV – Special birth:We mate a 45-lv unit with a 1-lv unit, the stats of the child will be divide by 2.7. Actually I never try it.

V – Note:1 – The best age for giving birth is 14-20, if your units are 2x or 3x years old, the stats won’t be divided by 3.5 but 4 or 4.5,… Besides, LP and age may affect to birth time, I mate a couple at 2x years old and it took 2 years to give birth.
2 – If the couple is not blood-related, you can put them in the Warrior House and go pass year, they will give birth at 15 years old, the child will get very good stats.
Hope this will help you train your babies Image.

Tips for newbies

1.How to earn more gold:
_The gold you get from killing mobs arent enough for anything. After the turial missions, go to Hedeby, do the "slaying" missions. Slaying skeleton, archer and imp are the easiest, consider the amount of gold you will get. Whatever you do, dont do the trading mission like giving a certain amount of armors for a certain amount of gold, not worth.
_Build market to gain silver. Sell silver for gold. You can have more than 1 market but remember that upgrading a market to higher lvl is better than building a lot of low lvl markets. This will be your main way of earning gold.
_Plunder the other players, you will get 10% of their current gold sack together with some of the rare items. But the cons are also high, your infame will go higher and you will become target of everyone. It's best to keep a low profile, huh?
_Hunt for rare item, rare material and sell them to the people who need them. Well, this is the most rewarded way but also the hardest. The fact is, rare item and rare material's prices will almost never go down even no matter how long you have played.

2.How to lvl up:
_Killing mobs is the most efficient way. If the map said that the require lvl is 20 > 25, it's best to go there when all of your characters are lvl24 to lvl26. Monsters at higher map are generally tough, not to mention the bosses who are very tough. Avoid the spot that boss may spawn.
_Harvesting and building. Lvl1 to lvl10 can harvest for 1 hour. Lvl11 to lvl20 can harvest for 2 hours. Lvl21and above can harvest for 3 hours.
_Training. Lvl20 and above can train in 8 hours to gain 295 to 375 exp and have a chance to get a rare item or rare material.
_Garrison in fort and garrison in guild. Build a fort, garrison your character in it, he/she will automatically get exp but as a very very slow rate. If that character happen to take part in a fight and kill something, he/she will also get exp for doing so.
_Note: Lvl25 and above will not get exp from harvesting or building. The only ways for them to gain exp are killing mobs, garrison and training.
_The maximum lvl is 45. And it's very easy for you to train your team to 45, lvl up is not a problem in this game so dont worry.
_Skills can be learn/upgrade at:
Lvl10
Lvl17
Lvl24
Lvl31
Lvl38
Lvl45

3. Life point:
_Lp once lost, is lost forever. If a character's lp is zero, that character will die, forever. If a character who is garrisoning in a fort or in guild is killed by enemy's plundering force, his/her lp wont be lost.
_Your current leader will not die even if his/her lp is zero. Yeah, but right after you change the leader role to someone else, he/she will die immediately.
_Never ever click the white flag button on the upper right corner, NEVER. Dying costs only 1 lp per time. Click that button, you will still lose but all of your character will lose 1 to 3 lps.

4.Age, aging:
_Except your first character who is 18 years old, the other will be 15 years old, inclue the ones you get from mission, event or recruit in town square.
_Kids need to be 12 years old to have a portrait and the permission to go to world map. But you can still order the kids to harvest, buid or train.
_Only 15 years old or above character can get in the warrior house to...mate.
_From 30 years old, character's stats gain will be halved.
_From 40 years old, character's stats will be reduced every year. They may even die from natural cause.
_Your current leader will never die from aging but still loses stats like everyone.

5.Material houses:
_From lvl6 or above, material houses will give you rare materials daily. These material will be used to produce better armor, better weapon and many things. Although it is not wise to have a lot of them, get a guild, trade materials with your guildmates.
_There will be a chat channel which is easy to use and friendly so dont worry about that.

6.Mating:
_Same sex: NO
_Underage: NO
_Send two characters, one male and one female to warrior house. After a year has passed, they may have a kid if the synch is high. There are 3 types of synchs. Big heart means they are soul mates, very easy to have kid. Small heart means, they may have kid but dont expect too much. No heart, they may stay in warrior house for 10 years and still have no kid. Try different combination.
_Note: a couple that already have a kid's synch will be lower. They may have big heart before but after having kid, it's just small heart. A character cannot give birth to more than 3 kids, remember that.
_If one of the parents has bloodline, the kid might (or might not) has that bloodline. If both parents have bloodline, the kid will have one of these bloodlines.
_A kid's job bases on it's parents's jobs. If mother is an elf and father is an axe fighter, the kid may be an elf or an axe fighter. If mother and father both are axe fighter, the kid will certainly be an axe fighter. If parents have 2nd job, the kid may also have 2nd job like axe master or elf lord but the chance is very slim.
_A kid's lp is random and not always 20. A kid with maximum lp is 7 is not unheard of. But dont worry, because that kid will have higher stats.
_A kid's stats base on it's parent's stats. The higher it's parents's stats are, the higher the kid's stats are. So, it's a common sense that low lvl characters's kids will always be weak (sometimes, weaker than it's parents) and high lvl character's kids will always be strong (most of the times, stronger than it's parents). The kid's stats also base on the ammount of contribute you have for your guild. Fighting the colonial war is the fastest way to gain contribute.
_A kid's skills also base on it's parents's skills. If the mother has double attack and critical and the father has shield and resist, the kid will inherit 2 of the fours, randomly.
_So, dont try to have kid with low lvl characters, the kid will be very weak. If you need more characters, recruit some in the town square. Most of the times, they will be enough for any task.

7.Jobs:
_Axe: highest damage output but also the lowest accuracy. Can become a great tank thanks to the shield skill, it's the best protection skill for melee fighter. Dont rely on them too much...be expect to see them miss 2 or 3 strikes in a row.
_Spear: have good damage, defend and accuracy. Can also become a tank thanks to the Countercanceler. At lvl IV, it's 100%, this is why mob spear fighters are so annoying. They also have good weapon and armor selection.
_Sword: best accuracy...that's all. They have good offensive skills but the weapon selection isnt as good as axe or spear. Their weapons's damage is a joke.
_Archer: The killer, critical and shield are two most sought after skills in the game (Aside special skills). In arena, fort battle, colonial war, their range become infinite. Yeah, infinite, it's not a bug, it's the imba.
_Onee-chan: you cant survive without these units. AI has a bad habit of focusing on them, so be careful.
_Elf: have highest damage output but also the most expensive attacker. Their strongest weapons take a whole fortune to create. They seem to be fragile but with right build, they can become a tank too.
_Master vs Guard: Guard has better armor selection, Master has better weapons selection. But that can be wrong. Spear Guard and Spear Master's selections are both good. The same could be said so for Axe, only Sword suffers from this.
_Elf lord vs Dark elf: Accuracy vs Damage. Result: accuracy won.

8.Equipment:
_Lucky rabbit tail is one of the best accessories. All skills's activation % is base on luck. The higher the luck is, the higher the chance of activation is. Luck is even more important when you reach higher lvl and have higher skills.
_All of the plates are weak compare to other kinds of armor...dont wear them unless you have nothing else to wear. They lack 1 thing, magic protection.
_A tips for you, some equipments can only be created from repair tab. It's more like....upgrade, instead of repair.
_By the way, high lvl weapons are very expensive, if you happen to have some of them. Once you have used up almost all of their usage amount, stop! Go to production tab and repair them, all of the normal weapons use silvers to repair. So, one more reason why you should have market.

9.Heroes:
_They are stronger characters who have personal image. Their skill sets and bloodlines are all good. Most of the times, they will be your strongest characters.
_But hey! Stop right there! If you dont have power to find them, dont worry. They arent the strongest. The strongest characters are your kids! By mating, you will have almost unstopable characters, usually the F1 or F2 generation. But to have a powerful kid requires patient, time and...good parents.
_By doing missions, you will get Reis, Bridget (the nun that gives you mission in the inn), Empusa Queen and Egil. They are all good for...mating. Since they have both good physical stats and good magical stats together with good skills. Their kids are always powerful.
_Some of the heroes are ridiculously powerful and tough though. For example, Egil will be your best ranger and very useful in colonial war where he can 1 hit kill most elf. Volsung is an old man who can solo the whole map of melee mobs.
_So, if you have power to spend, feel free trying to find hero. If you dont have power to spend, hard working is fine too.

10.Building slots:_You start with 17 slots. But I tell you, 17 is not enough. More slots can be unlock by:
Buy first slot: 600 powers
Buy second slot: 900 powers
Buy third slot: 1200 powers
Do Bridget's mission

_You get 500 powers from the start, and 300 more after finishing the turial missions. Immediately spend 600 powers to buy the first slot. If you have more power from buying power or events, wait until you have 900 powers to buy the second slot.
_Why did I say 17 is not enough? Here, let me tell you:
1.Althing: by default.
2.Lord house: by default.
3.Square: cant live without it.
4.Market: like above.
5.Market: you need at least two markets.
6.Blacksmith shop: so that at least you can repair weapons.
7.Food house: either farm or field.
8.Fort: or you will be the ATM for everyone.
9.Fort: one will not work, you need two.
10.Magic shop: creat rosario, lol.
11.Accessory shop: to at least able to repair bow.

_So, you have only 6 slots to build, if you want to be strong, you will need more than that. From buying 2 slots with power and 1 more from doing mission, you will have 9 slots! Btw, 1 blacksmith shop will allow you to create and repair weapon, 2 blacksmith will alow you to create stronger weapon of it's lvl. For example:
1 blacksmith shop can make Damascus Spear
2 blacksmith shops can make Damascus Halberd
Not only Halberd is stronger but it also provide countercanceler skill. They both require damascus steel but Halberd is superior. But, you can survive without a second blacksmith since the differents arent that big. And you can always buy Halberd in Hedeby.

_It's really sad that it can only be applied for blacksmith shop. Other shops need 2 shops of a same kind and same lvl to creat stuffs. For example:
1 leather shop can make ONLY material that is used to create armor
2 leather shop can now make armor
So if you are going to build a leather shop to create armor, you need 2 leather shops to do that. The same with cloth, magic and accessory shop.

_So, you have to plan what kind of armor you want to wear. Choose one and focus on that. There are plate type, leather type, cloth type and shield type.
Plates need 2 blacksmith shops but they are very weak. Forget them.
Leathers need 2 leather shops. They provide various bonus, mostly defend and hp. Your melee fighters will love these armors.
_Cloths need 2 cloth shops. They provide various bonus, mostly magic defend and luck. Your spellcasters will love these armors.
_Shields need 2 accessory shops. They provide various bonus, mostly avoid rate and defend. They can be wear by many jobs and have a bonus of blocking attack.
_Now, fill the remain slots with harvesting houses like stone mine and lumber mill. Lumber mill at lvl6 provides Irminsul Branch which is used to create all high lvl bows. Stone mine at lvl6 provides Wootz Ore which is used to create all high lvl weapons. Silkworm house at lvl1 provides silk worm, they are used to make silk cloth which is used to make all high lvl robes. Chose the ones that suit your armor choice.
_Forget all I said about how to use your slots if you know what these words mean: "Mu... .....nt". They are crucious if you want to be strong.

I think those are what you newbies need to know. If you have any question, feel free to ask.

The Art of (Fort) Defence part 2

Pincer Formation

The Pincer Formation takes the opposite viewpoint of the Turtle strategy. Instead of playing for time, its a much more aggressive strategy. Its designed to make your opponent pay for the raid attempt and to inflict a mild form of a psychological attack. Players who like to raid and craft characters based around forts and raiding will find this strategy very appealing and easy to implement.

The primary benefit of this strategy is that your opponent will lose units. For those who don't know, if a unit dies while raiding another player, they will randomly lose between 1-3 LP. This can be a hefty cost, and can put a dent into a person's raiding timetable. This is especially true for less 'dedicated' players where normal units may form a large, or all of their army. As characters not from the square can have LP ranging from 5-20, it means that realistically, the player can only use their characters a specific amount of times before it becomes too dangerous. While the Turtle formation may deal losses, it is only incidental to the overall goal. Here, it is very different. The defending player is purposefully choosing unit types and gear to maximise kill rating. It has a lower overall defence success rate, but it has the advantage of potentially sabotaging your opponent and giving him a really bad day.

Unit Type 1 - Hawkeye
Weapon - Shigeto Bow/Amenowakahiko
Armour - Leather Jerkin
Accessory - Ranger Ring/Orichal Ring
Skills - Critical + Double Attack/Resist

Reasoning - The Ranger is King of Defence. There is no question that any player will find these stalwart units to be the supreme unit for considering in a fort. The answer to that is simple. Unlimited Range. Rangers have the bonus that when they are on defence, they are able to hit any part of the map from their starting position. So right from Turn 1, where both sides usually have to spend just getting into contact, the Ranger is already eliminating key targets. And this is where the Rangers 2nd advantage lies. Their target priority. The main offensive force of most raiders is magic. As many characters have high natural physical defence, relying only on melee to win raids is one that won't work for very long. Given how hard it is to defend against magic, a good mage can significantly make raids easier to handle. That being the case, if you are able to take out your opponents mage it drastically reduces his chance of winning. As the game tends to class Sisters and Mages as higher priority than melee, this means that the AI controlling the Ranger will usually target softer targets first.

Ranger weapons don't tend to be that good, until you are able to get the Hama bow. These bows are far and away much better than your standard bows as they not only have high attack, but they also grant a sizable amount of Luck. This makes them the perfect weapon for Rangers. For armour, I chose the Jerkin because of 2 main features. The first is that it gives a decent amount of Luck, and the second is that while its defence is not as high as the other classes it gives a good amount of buffer hp. Since your Ranger would presumably not even be within range of enemy characters until around turn 3 (or later), that extra 15hp or so can provide more short term survivability than adding a few points of defence. Plus, it gives Luck. Choosing between the Ranger Ring and the Orichal Ring is more dependent on the stats of the ranger and your playstyle. The Ranger ring gives him some strength, and the all-important Hit so that he doesn't miss. The Orichal ring gives both strength and Luck, the 2 most important stats for any offensive unit. Both are good choices, so if you feel like your ranger has very high Tech and he is unlikely to miss, go for the Orichal ring. If you want to be absolutely sure none of his shots are wasted, equip the ranger ring. I should also note, that while the ranger skill is Crit, the Hawkeye skill is Resist. So if you want to reach Crit IV, it is advisable to not change his class until after he maxes Crit. Otherwise you'll end up with a Crit III Hawkeye, which isn't really that good.

With Unlimited range, a habit of killing mages, and very high damage output this unit is a must-have for any offensive fort defence. With high Agi and high tech, it will also make your ranger attack first, attack accurately, and get those powerful Crit and skill activations. Oh, and he can also be pretty good at dodging as well.

Unit Type 2 - Berserker
Weapon - Tabar
Armour - Leather Jerkin
Accessory - Ring of Destruction/Surcoat
Skills - Double Attack + Critical

Reasoning - The Berserker stands tall over other melee classes because of 1 aspect. Its strength. Not only does the Berserker tend to gain strength more easily than the other classes, but it has a higher maximum cap. While 5 strength might not seem like much, given the right kind of equipment that can translate to an extra 3 points of normal attack damage. When including the effects of Double-Attack and Critical, it becomes even more significant. The Tabar as the weapon of choice is simple, it is the most destructive weapon out of the axes available. Combining high base attack, reasonable hit, and good stat-ups makes it the weapon of choice for offensively minded players. As with the ranger, I chose the Jerkin for the berserker. While providing much less survivability than other potential armour pieces, its Luck and HP are unparalled provide the most offensively orientated stats among the armour types. As for accessory, people may wonder at why I include the Surcoat. An item which for the most part looks defensive or utility in nature. And its because the axe really has quite a low accuracy rating. It is pointless to have massive attack if you miss half the time, or even 1/4 of the time. So I include the Surcoat there for those players who want a little insurance that their axe will do the job. The Ring of destruction as the premier offensive accessory should be self-explanatory. It is a quest item so should not be difficult to acquire.

My next post will talk a bit about how the general strategy of the Iron Wolves guild army, and how it facilitates the use of good fort defences.

The Art of (Fort) Defence part 1

Raiding is a major part of the game, whether you like it or not. In order to change your characters into advanced jobs you need a variety of items called 'Proofs'. These proofs are then assembled into 2 primary items, Runic Proofs (For 2nd Job) and Valhalla Proofs (For 3rd job). The Runic proofs are on the whole, quite easy to attain. They are available on the market in full for a decent price, and their material items drop off enemies on the main map. Valhalla proofs on the other hand, are quite a bit more difficult to attain. They are not tradable on the market, no enemies drop it, and they seem to be a fairly high priority item for theft.

It is not just proofs which are in danger though, as any item with a 'rarity' amount can be stolen. Treasure Weapons, valuable materials, all of these are vulnerable to theft by grasping hands. So even if you personally are not that fond of attacking other people, you will nevertheless find yourself under attack. So being able to defend yourself appropriately is a key factor in progressing further into this game. While there are many ways to defend yourself, I will (for now maybe) outline 2 main strategies which people can use to effectively defend themselves from thieves.

The Guild Army

Before I go into these though, I should mention a very important issue. And that is the Guild Army. Depending on how many forts you have available, the guild army will range from being either a major part of your defence, to nearly your entire defence. For those who are unaware, when defending yourself from an attacker you are allowed up to a maximum of 5 units for your defence. If you have 3 forts, the guild army will supply 2 reinforcement units. If you have 1 fort, the guild army will supply 4 reinforcement units. If you have 0 forts, you auto-lose. So make sure you always have at least 1 fort up and staffed.

What the above means is when deciding what sort of units to put in your fort, the composition and strength of the guild army matters a great deal. In order to mount the strongest defence you are able to, you must attempt to align your fort units with what may potentially appear from the guild army.

Defence Buildings and their Stats

The information below was gathered from the Japanese wiki. Located at http://wikiwiki.jp/ein-herjar/

Fort Level 1 - +5% avoid
Fort Level 2 - +15% avoid
Fort Level 3 - +25% avoid

Big Tree Level 1 - +3/+3 Defence/Resist
Big Tree Level 2 - +4/+4 Defence/Resist
Big Tree Level 3 - +5/+5 Defence/Resist
Big Tree Level 4 - +6/+6 Defence/Resist
Big Tree Level 5 - +7/+7 Defence/Resist

Now, on to the 2 main strategies!

Turtle Formation

The aim of this strategy is very simple. Its based around the turn limit mechanic in forts, and is also one of the more commonly used strategies deployed by players (whether knowingly or unknowingly). The main goal of this strategy is simple: Play for time. The damage or power of your units here is not as important as their durability. Because this strategy is based around survivability, there are a few unit types you can use as your main defence. Below are a few examples of the units and specs you would want to use in this strategy:

Unit Type 1 - Servant
Weapon - Gaboi Spear
Armour - Plate Armour/Shield
Accessory - Cardinal Ring/SafeGuard Ring
Skills - Terror + Resist + Shield (If grabbing safeguard)

Reasoning - Why a Servant over any other melee class? The answer is simple - Gaboi Spear. There are basically 2 types of weapons available for Spear users, Long Spears and Javelins. Long Spears are just like any other weapon, but Javelins are different. Unlike the other melee weapons which only have 1 range, the Javelin is able to hit from 2 spaces away (similar to the dagger). Most of the time the Javelin is not a good weapon as it is significantly weaker than long spears so the range benefit isn't worth the tradeoff for damage. However the Gaboi spear is different in that it has a very respectable 17 attack. This ranged bonus means that a Servant is able to attack enemies without having to worry about any counters at all. The armour can either be plate armour for massive physical protection, or the shield for a balanced mix of both. If you choose the plate, this Servant will literally be unkillable by non-magic. Even if the enemy shows up with a 60 damage double/crit melee, your unit will be able to shrug off that damage with ease. If you choose the shield, he gains a nice amount of physical protection, but more importantly, gains high avoid and good magic resistance. Combined with the Cardinal Ring this would make your unit very durable against both melee and magic. Add on the Fort bonus and the Tree Bonus, and your unit will be extremely hard to hit (Thanks to Terror, Fort, and Shield bonus as well as native agi stat), have high physical protection (due to Plate/Shield, Tree Bonus) and be very tough against magic (Thanks to Resist skill, Shield, Cardinal Ring, Tree Bonus)

Unit Type 2 - Cardinal
Weapon - High-Range Rosario
Armour - Robe
Accessory - Mithril Ring/Holy Ring/LiathFail/Valkyrie Necklace
Skills - Resist + Shield + God Defence

Reasoning - A Sister class? Why would anyone want to use her in defence! you may ask in an incredulous voice. The answer is simple. High-Range Rosario + High Luck. The Sister classes have some of the highest luck stats among all the classes. This means that their chance of skill activations are naturally higher than any other class. Add on the fact that their native skill is Resist with their naturally high Int, and they are near impervious to magic. Physical protection is a worry, but that can be negated by the accessories above, as well as training combat Sisters. Sisters have naturally lower melee defences than other classes, but it doesn't mean they can't have somewhat decent defence. Why not Cardinal Ring? Because the primary benefit of the cardinal ring is the magic resistance (+4 defence from the ring only translates to +2 'real' armour). Since the Cardinal has Resist, Int, and Luck, there really is no reason to slot additional magic resistance. What is more important is to try and offset the Cardinals other weaknesses, mainly physical. The Holy Ring is a quest item which gives a mixture of HP, Avoid, and defence, and more importantly, Shield III skill. While I am usually wary of non-IV skills on characters, given the Cardinals Luck I think it is still very worthwhile to put it on her. The second choice is Liathfail. While this accessory doesn't grant any skills, it nevertheless provides a healthy boost to a variety of stats, in this case mainly Luck and HP (but the rest isn't bad). The Valkyrie Necklace is also a quest item, and it grants the ability to directly shave off any incoming physical damage. I don't really think anymore needs to be said about that item. Now, I included Mithril Ring above because those other items can be difficult to acquire (or used on more important characters). Mithril Ring is similar to Cardinal Ring, except it removes the magic resistance to grant some extra int. A properly trained and equipped cardinal unit is a force to be feared. It will be near invulnerable to magic, have high physical defence and a chance to block all damage, and be going around healing the other units for a fairly high amount. Healing 40hp on a low defence character = Not very useful. Healing 40hp on the Servant above = Very very annoying.

My next post will go into the other dominant strategy, which is based around the use of the Hawkeye (and is also the strategy which seems to be used by dRaven)

World Chat has come true in Einherjar!

Tokyo, Japan – 8 August 2012 - After collecting players’ comments and requests for developing Einherjar The Viking’s Blood, the game’s developer Appirits has just announced that the World Chat function has been completed and will be added as a live channel for all players since 8 August 2012 (SGT or GMT+8).

With this update, players can freely discuss with other players and guild members while going on expeditions, joining in colonial battles, collecting natural resources, etc. The interface of the World Chat is simple enough to provide players a channel of useful information from all players as well as not to distract players from their gaming process. Especially, by using the "Search Friend" and "Friend List" functions included in the chat, players can easily find and chat directly with their friends.
And the old guild chat tab will be removed to avoid players from any unnecessary confusion.
Through this update, Appirits is trying to keep up with their goal that is continuously improving the game for players’ playing experience. Appirits hopes that players will continue supporting and contributing ideas to make Einherjar more exciting and gripping.
